Dear IASA Atlanta Members,
There are several things that make the January meeting special:
1) In addition to our scheduled presentation, we will hold elections for our 2009 Board of Directors. The board consists of seven members, four of which are officers. Please show your support by ensuring your yearly dues are up to date, so you can cast your vote. We will be unable to provide voting proxies as it is not permitted by our bylaws. If you are interested in running for a director position and you are a member in good standing, please send an email to our President,
Max Poliashenko (maxim@mindspring.com), no later than January 4th, 2009.
2) Immediately after the elections, Joseph DeCarlo will be presenting on "
The Complexity of Simplicity - Keys to architecting simple solutions to complex problems." Here's the abstract for it.
For many years, an application's merit coincided with the number of features it possessed. We are now finding that, though feature rich, many applications are being overtaken by their simpler, streamlined competitors. We are going to cover some of the keys to keeping solutions simple.
Joseph DeCarlo is a Solution Architect at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. His team designs frameworks and products for the many development teams to leverage to achieve consistency and interoperability across them. Joseph has twelve years of IT experience and has worked for many companies including, Avanade, Pivotal, and Synovus Financial. Joseph is a Microsoft Certified Architect and serves on the Board of Directors for the program. Joseph also serves on the Board of Directors for IASA, Atlanta chapter.
In an effort to make our monthly meetings easier for our members to attend, we will be holding our meetings in two alternating locations throughout 2009, starting with our January 14th meeting.
Our January, March, May, July, September, and November meetings will held at:

IT Architect Regional Conference (ITARC) (go to <http://www.iasahome.org/web/itarc/2009/Atlanta> for more information). The lucky winners will be able to register for the conference for free or to register another person if they have already paid for the event.
Concerning ITARC, we are pleased to announce that this year the conference features 5 tracks: Enterprise, Software, Infrastructure, Fundamentals, and Career. The conference will feature over 30 presentations on Architecture topics.
